FORGED IN THE FIRES OF DETROIT
The Lion Within is an original band consisting of musicians with the intent to spread their brand of high-energy Active Rock meets Post Grunge vibe. With a sound that has been influenced by 90's Grunge such as Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Modern Rock such as Godsmack and Shinedown to Classic 70's icons such as Queen and Led Zeppelin, The Lion Within draws inspiration from the greats while focusing on creating a sound of their own. Heavy, Catchy, Deep, Provocative. These are words that have summed up their sound and attitude.
Currently working with producer Andy Patalan, who has worked with artists such as Cheap Trick, Ted Nugent, etc. The Lion Within has released 3 well-received original singles, “Too Many Lies”, “The Haunted (By the River)” & "Starblind" with accompanying full production videos. A new single, “Slither So Slow”, produced by Tim Patalan & mixed by Andy Patalan is slated for a Summer 2025 release. With many more original songs already written, The Lion Within plans to return to The Loft studios with producer Andy Patalan at the helm to record several more songs throughout 2025.
2022 was a productive year with a feature interview in UK print publication, Emerging Rock Magazine for their 2nd anniversary issue, put into regular rotation on their radio station as well as a full feature in online magazine, Ion. The Lion Within has also shared the stage with national recording artists, Drowning Pool, Trapt, Saliva, Saving Abel, Tantric, Flaw, Sponge, Gin Blossoms, Scotty Austin (of Saving Abel), John Corabi (formerly of Motley Crue), MEST as well as participated in fundraisers such as Rock 4 Tots to help children in need for the holidays.
Voted by DMA industry members as a final nominee in the Detroit Music Awards 2023 for Outstanding Heavy/Hard Artist, The Lion Within has also been featured on WRIF101FM Detroit, Rock Rage Radio, ERB Radio & more. 2023 was a great year including regional touring through 10 states with national recording artist, Scotty Austin & Grammy nominated artists, Rehab throughout the Midwest.
In 2024, singer/guitarist Jason Caine secured an endorsement/brand affiliate partnership with international guitar luthiers, Kononykheen Guitars, Get’m Get’m Guitar straps, as well as continued his endorsement/brand affiliation with national custom clothing/accessory company Wornstar Clothing. A new single, “Slither So Slow” was recorded with producer Tim Patalan (Sponge, Taproot, Ted Nugent, etc) for release in early Summer 2025. Jason Caine was nominated as “Best Guitarist” by Detroit based Cave Radio & The Lion Within was nominated as “Best Band” as well.
In 2025, an endorsement deal with WB Gear was secured resulting in endorsements with Revv Amplification, SIT strings, Aluminati Guitars, InTune Picks, Barefoot Buttons pedal solutions, Lizard Spit cleaner/polish, Amp Rx, NEAT, Mental Case road cases & Coda Grip guitar stands. A feature interview with online magazine, Riff Culture Magazine for the June 2025 edition had singer/guitarist Jason Caine talking about guitar gear and band stories, plans & history. 2025 has several festivals & touring involved including shows at the world famous Machine Shop (Flint, MI), headlining the West Stage at the Lapeer Days Festival on Saturday 8/16 for the largest free festival in Michigan, The Summer Slam Festival in Nashville, Tennessee with national recording artist, Scotty Austin, & The Whisky (Hollywood, CA) with national recording artists, Tantric.
Crafting songs with a message, the Lion Within writes material that is powerful and relatable. Songs like, "The Haunted" which describes the sadness of losing a loved one, yet being haunted by their ghost. "Too Many Lies" which describes how relationships can go wrong based on selfishness and deception. "The Affirmation Song" which inspires hope, to find your inner strength and to be the best "you" that you can be. Lyrics that come from the heart with meaning are a huge component of what this band is about. To provide an empathetic soundtrack to the lives we all lead.
